Van crashes into ditch at Cheals Roundabout

A VAN ended up in a ditch after an accident at Cheals Roundabout in the early hours of this morning. At about 2am the vehicle left the roundabout and crashed into the ditch. No other vehicle is thought to have been involved and it is not known if the driver was injured. Sussex Police was called to the scene shortly after the incident.

A MAN will face trial after pleading not guilty to drink-driving.Stuart McKenzie, from Curteys Walk, Bewbush, was given unconditional bail when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on December 7. He will appear at Horsham Magistrates' Court for trial on January 22.The 37-year-old is accused of drink-driving on Pegler Way, in the town centre on November 22.

A MAN has been given a conditional discharge after resisting two police officers.Chris Andrews, from Rawlinson Road, Maidenbower, resisted a police constable and a special police constable in the execution of their duty on November 22 and damaged a police radio ear piece. The 26-year-old pleaded guilty on December 7 at Crawley Magistrates' Court.He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay court costs of £235.

AN extra 200 people in Crawley kicked the habit earlier this year compared to in 2014. A total of 431 residents in the town stopped smoking in October, 209 more than in the same month last year. Nandan Chelliah-Sarvana and Mohammed Khan both appeared at Hove Trial Centre on Wednesday (December 23) charged with possessing a firearm. Councillors to scrutinise management of K2 leisure centre

COUNCILLORS will scrutinise the management of K2 Crawley at a meeting in early January. Crawley Borough Council's overview and scrutiny commission is meeting on January 11. An item on the agenda is to discuss the performance and management of the leisure centre, off Pease Pottage Hill. Freedom Leisure run the K2 on behalf of the council, which still owns the premises. A crew from Crawley Fire Station attended the scene of the incident, in Ifield Road, Charlwood at 2.32am.
