DOG and cat owners are being encouraged to attend a microchipping event in Manor Royal to protect their pets from being lost or stolen.Pets at Home, based in County Oak Retail Park, is offering a discount rate for owners who drop in anytime on Saturday, February 28 or Sunday, March 1.From next month it becomes law in Wales that all dogs have to be microchipped by eight weeks old.This law will be introduced in England in April 2016.People who get their pet microchipped next weekend will have to...

ONE of the drivers involved in a head-on collision in Ifield last night was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving but required immediate hospital treatment.Two cars collided in Sharpthorne Close, just off Rusper Road and police were called at 8.17pm. Two crews from Crawley Fire Station were then called at 8.24pm and the ambulance service was also in attendance.One of the drivers was arrested but needed treatment, so was taken to hospital. A MAN will go on trial accused of assaulting another man at Gatwick Airport.Mohammed Mukit appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court last Wednesday charged with assault by beating.The 22-year-old is accused of carrying out the attack at the airport on January 18.Mukit pleaded not guilty to the charge.Magistrates set a date of May 7 for a trial at Horsham Magistrates' Court.Mukit, from Haverstock Hill, in London, was released on unconditional bail.
