A MAN has been caught stealing food and clothing worth more than £1,000 from Marks & Spencer.
John Denney appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on January 14, to answer a charge of theft.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty.
On December 13 he stole various food items and clothing, to the value of £1,021.72, from Marks & Spencer, in Queensway.
Magistrates gave Denney, from Dudeney Lodge, in Upper Hollingdean Road, Brighton, an 18-month conditional discharge.

Man dies after "accidentally" being set on fire
A MAN has died of his injuries after accidentally being set on fire.
Emergency services were called to Barnfield Care Home, in Upfield, Horley, at just before 10am on Monday to reports that a man was on fire.
Paramedics treated the 66-year-old patient, who was a resident at the home, before he was airlifted to St George's Hospital, in Tooting, suffering from serious burns.
He died a few hours later.
