THREE fire engines rushed to a block of flats in Langley Green yesterday (Monday) after leaking gas caught fire in the ceiling of a communal corridor.
Two crews from Crawley Fire Station were joined by a third from Horsham at the flats in Squirrel Close at about 11.30am.
A fire broke out and was fuelled by gas leaking from a burnt internal gas pipe in the ceiling of the communal corridor on the first floor.

POLICE have revealed that a knife was used in a betting shop robbery in Northgate in which a member of staff was threatened.
Last Wednesday a man walked into Coral on The Parade and demanded cash before running off with £650 at about 10.15am.

POLICE have said the 18-year-old who was raped while on her way home on Saturday night had been "befriended" and led off a main road and out of sight before she was attacked.
The teenager was walking home alone along Haslett Avenue East, in Three Bridges, after a night out at about 11pm.

Scooter deliberately set alight in Broadfield
FIREFIGHTERS wearing breathing apparatus have used a hose reel to put out a blaze that engulfed a scooter after it was deliberately set alight.
One appliance from Crawley Fire Station was sent to a wooded area off Broadwood Rise, Broadfield, at 5.56am today (Wednesday).
Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames with a hose reel.
The scooter was completely destroyed in the blaze and the fire crew were away from the scene by 6.12am.

Firefighters called out after smoke seen in Southgate
FIREFIGHTERS were called out after smoke was seen issuing from a property in Southgate.
One fire engine was sent to Thatcher Close at 7.53pm yesterday (Tuesday) so firefighters could investigate.
On arrival they found someone having a bonfire.
They inspected the blaze, which they found to be a "safe burning", and left the scene at 8.09pm.

OFSTED is investigating after a three-year-old girl escaped from a nursery in Crawley and it is alleged that staff did not notice she was gone until a relative came to collect her.
