A SOUTHGATE man has been fined £80 for possession of cannabis.Asif Khan, 42, from Southgate Drive, was caught with the class B drug on March 17.He pleaded guilty when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on April 7.Khan was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.The total amount of £185 will be deducted from his benefits. Mystery tree fire in Turners Hill
FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a tree-fire outside an aquatic supplies store in Turners Hill.A crew from Crawley Fire Station was called to Turners Hill Road last night (Friday) after a fire caught light outside the World of Water Aquatic Centres near Tulleys Farm. It is not known how the tree caught fire. The crew arrived at the scene at 5.45pm and doused the flames with water before leaving 20 minutes later.

FIRE crews were called to a blaze at a launderette in Tilgate.Three fire appliances and an officer were called out to Tilgate Parade last night (Saturday) at 8.12pm after smoke was seen coming from the launderette.
