PEOPLE spending a night out in Crawley town centre during the Christmas and New Year party season stayed safe while having a good time, new statistics released by Sussex Police have revealed.There were absolutely no arrests for alcohol related crime or violent conduct at Crawley's pubs, bars, restaurants or nightclub on New Year's Eve. Arrests over the Christmas party period, between December 22 and 29, also fell significantly with just 19 compared with 33 the year before.Councillor...

The Highways Agency is reporting congestion and delays of 10 minutes between junction 9 and 9a, the Gatwick spur road. A WOMAN has been fined by magistrates for obstructing an officer at Crawley Police Station. Kelly Steptoe pleaded guilty to the offence, which she committed on October 7, at Crawley Magistrates' Court on January 28. The 27-year-old, from Downland Drive, Southgate, was fined £80 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £50 in court costs. The money will be deducted from her benefits.
