Mental health nurses to join police officers on patrol in Crawley

A YOUNG motorist charged with driving without due care and attention has pleaded not guilty.Ernie Huggett is accused of committing the offence on the A264 in Copthorne, on October 30.The 21-year-old, from Warnham Road, Furnace Green, appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court last Wednesday and is now listed for trial at Horsham Magistrates' Court on April 16.

"Police investigating" after Crawley town centre...
POLICE are investigating the "attempted abduction" of a 44-year-old woman in Crawley town centre.
The incident happened at about 2.10am on Friday, January 30, as Angela Thompson was sat on a bench on The Broadway, near to where the road meets The Boulevard.
Mrs Thompson was waiting for a bus home after finishing a night shift when she was approached by a man in a van.

Bewbush man appears in court after smashing his own window
A BEWBUSH man has been given a conditional discharge after admitting smashing a window at his home address.
Mayur Nayee, from Monarch Close, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage at Crawley Magistrates' Court on January 22.
The charge related to an incident on January 19 in which he caused £400 worth of damage to the window.
The 36-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 compensation and £85 court costs.

Emergency services trying to free elderly man and woman trapped...
EMERGENCY services have been at the scene of a serious crash this afternoon, in which a car has gone into a ditch, trapping an elderly man and woman.
The incident has closed the B2135 between West Grinstead and Partridge Green.
The crash happened at about 12.10pm today (Monday).
Efforts are being made to release the elderly man and woman whose car has left the road and gone into a ditch, where it is half submerged in water.
Both are injured but the extent of their injuries is not yet...

Man appears in court in Crawley accused of raping teenager in...
A MAN has appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court today (Monday) accused of raping a teenager on Saturday. Mark Hughes, 25, from St Wilfred's Road, Worthing, has been charged with the sexual assault and rape of an 18-year-old in Upper High Street, Worthing, on Saturday.
He was bailed to appear before Chichester Crown Court on Monday, March 9.

A TEENAGER who picked up his mother by the throat and bit her has been sentenced at Crawley Magistrates' Court for a series of offences.
Robert Geering flew into a rage at his former home in Little Oddynes Farm, in Cinder Hill Lane, Horsted Keynes, following a row over a dog blanket.
