A FORTUNE has been raised for charity today as almost 9,000 runners have taken part in the Brighton Marathon.
The race was started at 9.15 by marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe.
It is the fifth year the event has taken place, with 8,670 runners at the start line in Preston Park.
The vast majority were expected to reach the finish in Madeira Drive close to Brighton Pier, and at 3.05pm more than 8,000 people had made it to the finish.
