TWO people were seriously injured when an aeroplane was forced into an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport.
The Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330 left the airport bound for McCoy International Airport in Orlando, USA, but returned 29 minutes later after smoke warnings were issued.
Crews carried out emergency drills, including the discharge of fire extinguishers in the aft cargo hold, early into the journey, but the smoke warnings continued.
