AN 89-year-old man was rescued from floodwater when his car broke down only to end up involved in a collision in the taxi which then picked him up.
Russ Russell was on his way to Sainsbury's in West Green from his home in Park Gate Road, Newdigate, to do some grocery shopping when his vehicle cut out at about noon midday on Friday.
The car was stuck in deep floodwater in Ifield Avenue at the section where the River Mole runs underneath it.
