MUCH of Crawley may have been left underwater this morning but the town did not suffer record rainfall - according to Met Office.
The huge storm which tore through the town last night has left roads and homes flooded but the amount of rainfall at the nearest weather station, in Charlwood, was not as high as you would expect.
A Met Office spokesman said between midnight and 9am (December 24) there was 22.2mm of rain but this amount has been between at least three times in recent years.
