Swan killed by out-of-control dog at Crawley park
A SWAN has been mauled by a dog at Buchan Country Park.
The bird was attacked at Douster Pond by an out-of-control dog at the weekend.
The park rangers have posted an appeal on the Buchan Country Park Facebook page for dog walkers to keep their pets under control.
They wrote: "We know that the large majority of dog walkers who come to the park are sensible but we must put out a reminder to keep your dogs under close control in the park."

Cycle trip being organised from Crawley to Bluebell Railway

A man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a toilet of a Langley Green pub.The trial of Boguslaw Giba finished at Chichester Crown Court on Monday. Giba, from Shepherd Close, in Southgate, had denied carrying out a sex attack in the Dr Samuel Johnson pub, in Langley Parade, in the early hours of September 9, 2013. A BROADFIELD man has admitted possessing animal porn which featured humans performing sex acts with a dog, horses and snakes.
Richard Diamond and Julia Diamond, from Webb Close, both 48, appeared in court last Friday to answer four charges of possession of images and videos of an extreme or grossly offensive nature.
Charges include possession of videos showing sexual acts between humans and a variety of animals including horses, pigs, dogs and snakes.

NAMED AND SHAMED: Another 19 drivers suspected of drink driving...
ANOTHER 19 motorists have been charged with offences as part of Sussex Police's summer crackdown on drink and drug-driving.
Among them are two Crawley residents.
Rashid Mustafa, 39, was arrested at 2am on 14 June after officers were given information that he could be drink-driving.
Mustafa, of Weald Drive, Furnace Green, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court on 29 June.

Large police presence in Crawley Down amid reports of hammer...
A LARGE police presence has been reported in Crawley Down this evening - amid unconfirmed reports of a man being attacked with a hammer.
Part of the Haven Centre, in the village, is reported to have been cordoned off.
There are reports that two men in a van pulled up in its car park behind another car and attacked a man with a hammer - but these reports have not been confirmed.
A statement is expected from Sussex Police later this evening.

TRAVEL: Traffic around M25 junction after car hits lamppost and...
TWO cars have been involved in a crash this morning including one which hit a lamppost, causing delays near Junction 8 of the M25.
Police are on the scene of the collision on the A217 at the M25 J8 (Reigate) roundabout.
Meanwhile on the trains, signalling problems are causing delays on the metro route however all local lines are running a good service.
There are no delays reported from Crawley or East Grinstead stations.

A MAN is recovering in hospital after being bludgeoned in the head and body with a hammer in Crawley Down.
The 30-year-old East Grinstead man was attacked in the car park of The Haven Centre on Hophurst Lane just before 4pm yesterday (Tuesday) before his car keys and mobile phone were stolen.

Thieves use sophisticated key or device to break into four vans...
THIEVES who are believed to be using a sophisticated key or device have broken into four vans in Crawley without causing any damage to the vehicles.
On Monday night three Ford Transit Vans were broken into in Southgate (Downland Drive, Caburn Heights and Osney Close) and one in Broadfield (St James Walk).
Sussex Police say that the vans were locked but entry was gained without forcing any locks or damaging the vehicle, leading them to believe a key or device was used.
