A SWAN has been mauled by a dog at Buchan Country Park. The bird was attacked at Douster Pond by an out-of-control dog at the weekend. The park rangers have posted an appeal on the Buchan Country Park Facebook page for dog walkers to keep their pets under control. They wrote: "We know that the large majority of dog walkers who come to the park are sensible but we must put out a reminder to keep your dogs under close control in the park."

A LARGE police presence has been reported in Crawley Down this evening - amid unconfirmed reports of a man being attacked with a hammer. Part of the Haven Centre, in the village, is reported to have been cordoned off. Police are on the scene of the collision on the A217 at the M25 J8 (Reigate) roundabout.
