Almost a quarter of West Sussex residents have never tried to get an appointment with an NHS dentist within the last two years.
Figures released last week by the Office for National Statistics show 24 per cent of survey respondents across the county had not tried to get an appointment.
The number is slightly above the national average, which is 22 per cent.
The study also shows almost a quarter of residents would rather pay to see a private dentist than see an NHS dentist.
