THIEVES have attempted to smash their way into a town centre jewellers this afternoon.
Police were called to the East Grinstead Watch Company, in Middle Row, after two men armed with a hammer attempted to smash open the front window of the shop.
Officers were alerted to the incident at 2.40pm, but the men were unsuccessful in their raid and fled the scene empty-handed.
