A DRIVER'S car engine burst into flames after she started the vehicle last night.
The woman got into the car in Houghton Road, Maidenbower, at 10.24pm and turned the key in the ignition. The engine caught fire so she got out and phoned the fire service.
A fire engine was sent out from Crawley Fire Station but a neighbour had put out the fire with a garden hose by the time they arrived. The fire crew damped down the vehicle to make sure the fire did not reignite.
