JOAO Esteves approached Daniel Palmer on the day of his death as he wanted a cigarette, Lewes Crown Court was told yesterday (Monday).
Palmer's cousin Chloe Snowdon told the murder trial that Palmer had told her that he was approached by a man on the night in question.
Describing a call, made by Palmer to her at 3.28am, she told jurors: "In the phone call he was telling me what had happened, that he put a male on his bum.
"He had come up to him asking for a cigarette and Dan didn't have one....
