THE trial into the alleged murder of Joao Esteves in Three Bridges has heard today (Thursday) that the homeless man was only in Crawley having been told by police to leave Gatwick Airport or risk being arrested.
The 45-year-old was advised to head to Crawley Open House - but no check was made as to whether it had any beds available.
It turned out there weren't any spare beds, leading Mr Esteves to spend the night on which he was fatally injured on the streets.
