A MIDWIFE at East Surrey Hospital allegedly painted her nails while on shift and gave herself gas and air intended for expectant mothers during a break.
Fiona Midgley is accused of self-administering Entonox - a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide - during a break on December 18, 2012.
She is also accused of failing to notice signs that a fetus may be in danger on May 6, 2013 and on the same shift it is alleged she failed to inform senior midwives of a patient's increased blood pressure.
