CRAWLEY firefighters were called out last night (June 22) to free a sparrow that had become entangled in string up a tree in Three Bridges.
The alarm was raised at 10.24pm and a fire crew travelled to Mill Road in one fire engine.
On arrival they found a sparrow tangled in plastic twine, which was holding it to a branch.
It is unclear how high the bird was in the tree.
An RSPCA officer was called to the scene to handle the sparrow while firefighters cut the branch.
