FIREFIGHTERS have been forced to cut down a part of a tree in Tilgate Park after an area of woodland was set alight.
Crews from Crawley Fire Station were called to the popular park yesterday (Wednesday) at 6.30pm to reports of a five metre by five metre area being set on fire.
On arrival the firefighters, travelling in a fire engine and 4x4 vehicle with an extra water tank, found the flames had been extinguished. They were joined by four technical rescue units.
